Their beer often falls into the hop overload ipa beer styles. It turns out, the answer for many questions about how they make such tasty beer is "more hops." The brewer started looking at the price list for hops and cynically laughing about how much it would cost to do five gallons. I took this as a challenge? The result was this beer, which he later said "needs more hops." I agree, but it is still pretty awesome and very much in the "wow this delicious fruit juice is a beer" kind of ipa category-not much on the dank/resin/pine/scratchy side. The original plan was to use amarillo, centennial, and citra and call it "if it ain't broke," but none of those hops were available on brew day. I approve of this new combo, but I might bail on mandarina bavaria in a future brew and sub it with one of the crazy NZ hops that are so hot with the kids these days. I would also bump that warrior addition to like .75 to get a more intense bitterness, which this one is sort of lacking.
